The topic of my presentation was "The Media Are Broken, Can We Fix Them?".

The audience consisted mainly of people related to the Belgian Media landscape, both print, radio and TV. I only had 25 minutes (but I got 40) to highlight some of the reasons why traditional media are treathened and why they need to change. Interesting crowd, interesting discussion, very active on Twitter.

I have included the slides of my presentation as posted on Slideshare and for all you Twitter-geeks and others who like to re-live part of the event, I grabbed all #Fleet09 tagged tweets and put them in reversed order (most recent tweets at the bottom), so you can read them as some kind of weird 140 characters transcript of the event.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/11/17/interview-at-digital-marketing-first.html"><rss:title>Interview at Digital Marketing First</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/11/17/interview-at-digital-marketing-first.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/11/3/why-social-is-the-way-to-go-for-boekbe.html"><rss:title>Why "social" is the way to go for Boek.be.</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/11/3/why-social-is-the-way-to-go-for-boekbe.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>boek.be case post social media</dc:subject>

Last week, the new site of Boek.be was launched.
The site is developed by ONE Agency, based on a social strategy and concepts by Dear Media.

We are not writing this post to explain in detail what the site is all about and what you can do on it. We would invite to just start using it to discover how a site on books can be a real social experience. While doing so, please bear in mind that the site still needs some extra features to make it complete (it had to be launched before the Boekenbeurs so there was some time pressure here ;-).

So how did we come to suggest to Boek.be to create a social strategy around books? The answer is rather simple.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/10/30/medianet-mobile-event-the-slides.html"><rss:title>Medianet Mobile Event - The Slides</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/10/30/medianet-mobile-event-the-slides.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Mobile medianet slides social media</dc:subject>

On October 15, I gave a presentation at the Medianet Vlaanderen event "Mobile Present and Future. All of this was part of the second edition of The Big Ask, the initiative by Nic Balthazar and the Climate Coalition to make a clear statement on climate change.
Last year 4.000 peopled showed up, this year we tripled that number. And while traditional media (TV, radio, newspapers) did their part in motivating people to attend, social media played an equally important role in spreading the message. This post describes the steps we took and the results we obtained by using social media to reach and activate an audience. One of the most interesting insights is the difference we noticed in using Facebook and Twitter.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/7/16/the-power-of-social-to-launch-a-new-brand-a-real-case.html"><rss:title>The power of social to launch a new brand - a real case</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.dearmedia.be/home/2009/7/16/the-power-of-social-to-launch-a-new-brand-a-real-case.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>PR dear media post social</dc:subject>

Dear friends of Dear Media,

Yesterday we announced the birth of our new company, Dear Media.
